Matthew’s Wife – Control or Affectionate Title?

Let’s clear something up real quick: being called Matthew’s Wife does not mean I’ve been kidnapped into apron-wearing submission and forced to bake sourdough under watchful eyes.

Believe it or not, someone recently suggested that the name of my blog is a sign that Matthew has complete control over me. I had to laugh.

The truth is, I chose the title Matthew’s Wife because I love being his wife. Not because I lost my identity when I married him, but because I found someone who saw me, chose me, and still makes me feel like the most loved woman in the world—even when I’m wearing pajamas, holding a toddler, and covered in flour.

Yes, we’re that couple that flirts in the kitchen while we clean. Yes, he still calls me Beautiful every single day. And yes, we are annoyingly in love.

So no, this isn’t about control. It’s about belonging. About being proud of the life we’ve built, the love we share, and the way we continue choosing each other—every ordinary, chaotic, magical day.

And let’s be real… if this is “control,” then I’m completely happy to be under the influence.
